Pallet Flow Rack in Concord, NC

Pallet flow rack in Concord gives fast-moving inventory a defined receiving side and a separate retrieval face. Gravity rollers carry each pallet forward as the leading load is removed, supporting first-in, first-out rotation without sending a forklift into the storage lane.

For e-commerce fulfillment near International Drive or motorsports parts distribution along Speedway Boulevard, the decision starts with replenishment patterns. Deep lanes suit repeat receipts of the same SKU; scattered part numbers and uneven demand can leave expensive positions empty.

Where pallet flow rack earns its space

High-volume dated SKU stock benefits when incoming pallets join the rear of an assigned lane and older receipts remain accessible at the opposite end. FIFO supports receipt sequence, but expiration management still requires correct lot assignment and disciplined warehouse transactions.

Pallet flow racking concentrates inventory behind fewer pick positions. That can reduce travel across a busy fulfillment building, provided receiving and shipping have usable access on their respective sides. Lane depth should follow actual inventory coverage rather than the largest count that fits between aisles.

Pushback uses the same face for loading and retrieval and operates last-in, first-out within each lane. It serves a different inventory pattern. Carton flow handles case picking rather than full-pallet movement; combining separate systems can make sense where reserve pallets feed smaller outbound orders.

Proving pallet flow rack before purchase

Start with representative loads and operating records, then establish the arrangement around demonstrated pallet behavior.

    1

    Build the load sample

Record pallet dimensions, underside deck construction, pallet condition and load overhang. Include the lightest and heaviest operating weights, not merely the average shipment. Different runners or damaged boards can change roller contact and travel.

    2

    Test the moving lane

Set lane length and slope through actual pallet testing. There is no universal pitch that suits every deck and weight range. Observe starts, movement after a pick, and arrival at the discharge position.

    3

    Control the queue

Select brakes and speed controllers for the tested loads. Check how accumulated pallets bear against the front position, whether separation is needed for withdrawal, and how operators recognize a lane that is not advancing normally.

    4

    Coordinate the installation

We supply new material only and schedule and manage experienced installation crews. Agree receiving access, work boundaries and the installation sequence before deliveries begin, so active warehouse traffic has an understood route around the work.

Pallet flow rack capacity and daily control

Capacity is not a single number attached to the system name. Beam capacity applies to a beam pair per level. Frame capacity depends on frame height, beam spacing and the specified configuration; roller tracks and associated components also need matching load ratings.

Load plaques must identify the approved capacities for the installed arrangement. Adding a level, changing beam elevations or introducing heavier pallets requires review before use. A lane that physically accepts another pallet has not thereby gained permission to carry its weight.

Give each lane an identifiable SKU and lot assignment, with readable labels at both ends. Train operators to reject unsuitable pallets before loading and follow an established isolation procedure for stalled loads. Reaching into a loaded lane is not a substitute for controlled handling.
